I am looking for a calm, reliable and supportive Personal Assistant to help me manage my day-to-day life. I am a male in my mid-forties with autism and epilepsy, and I benefit from routine, patience and consistency. At times I can display challenging behaviour, so I need someone confident, resilient and able to provide reassurance. Your support will help me feel safe, supported and able to enjoy my everyday activities both at home and in the community. I enjoy visiting a local leisure venue to play on the arcade machines, taking trips into Norwich to browse DVDs, and watching films at home. With gentle encouragement, I sometimes take part in meal preparation and household activities.

Your role will be to:

  • Supporting me to access the community
  • Helping me stay safe and manage situations when out and about
  • Using public transport together, including bus journeys into Norwich
  • Meal preparation (midday and evening) and light household tasks
  • Issuing my medication and maintaining accurate records
  • Managing my daily cash allowance
  • Providing up to 30 hours of holiday cover for my regular PA

Personal Specification

Essential:

Summary Terms and Conditions

The rate of pay for this position is £12.89 per hour Monday-Friday - 6 hours each day between 10am and 5pm (exact times to be agreed at interview). This is holiday cover for around 4 weeks per year. Holiday entitlement equivalent to 5.6 weeks per year, pro rata. Access to free Care Skills training.

The post is subject to the following:

  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
  • Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
  • Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months.
