We are expanding the Private Rented Sector Property Licensing Service and are looking for committed, enthusiastic and organised individuals. The service is to be the largest in the country, fitting for the second City and largest metropolitan Local Authority.

Our Property Licensing compliance team ensures compliance with the issued licence conditions and takes enforcement action for condition breaches and unlicensed privately rented premises in Birmingham. A large proportion of your time will involve undertaking inspections of properties within the City of Birmingham, therefore you must be available to attend the city on a daily basis.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A good level of education (level 3 or equivalent) or experience within the housing/enforcement sector.
  • An awareness of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and the impact of hazards on tenants.
  • Ability to carry out inspections and investigations as required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare high quality reports, write witness statements, and give evidence in court.
  • Skills in handling conflict, negotiating, and empathising with difficult customers.
  • Commitment to personal development, enthusiasm and flexibility to work in a busy environment.
