Chorley Together Primary Care Network are supporting Dr Dawoud's Surgery in their search for a part time experienced medical receptionist. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced medical receptionist/administrator to join this small and friendly GP practice, based in Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley. You will work 25 hours a week across a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. You must be flexible in your approach as your shift pattern will be variable and will consist of a mix of 8am starts and 6.30pm finishes.
Main duties of the job
- Greet and direct patients/visitors arriving for appointments.
- Provide care navigation.
- Answer the telephone courteously and respond to all telephone inquiries.
- Check prescriptions requested.
- Task appropriate clinicians to deal with queries.
- Collect certain fees from patients.
- Make new and follow up appointments for patients over the telephone.
- Ensure confidentiality on all matters.
- Be courteous to your team members.
- Scan clinical correspondence.
- Receive and record new medical records arriving to the practice.
- Enter data and codes onto medical records.
- Prepare discharge summaries and printouts for patients who are moving to a new practice.
- Coding clinical documents.
- Take responsibility for ensuring the notice boards are tidy and updated regularly.
- Filing, archiving and shredding confidential documents.
- Assist with the various recall programmes.
- Assist members of the team with administrative duties to support them in delivering their role.
- Sort and distribute post.
- Keep reception area tidy and stocked up.
- Create posters to advertise clinics and events.

- Good interpersonal and communication skills - ability to deal with people in person and on the telephone.

Experience
- Previous experience of working in a GP Practice.
Qualifications
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Previous experience of EMIS.
