The Role
As a HSE Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Working closely with site leadership and operational teams, you will help maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a positive Health, Safety and Environmental culture across the site.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on Health, Safety and Environmental KPIs.
- Assist in the development and delivery of site action plans and continuous improvement projects.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Support accident, incident, and near‑miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Ensure company policies, procedures, permits, and safe systems of work are adhered to.
- Prepare and facilitate Health & Safety meetings and contribute to employee engagement initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
- Assist with training, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support compliance and audit requirements.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will be organised, proactive, and capable of building strong working relationships across all levels of the business.
Essential
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety, Environmental, or HSE‑related role.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Good problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, production, or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Internal auditing experience.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and investigations.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience supporting behavioural or cultural safety improvement initiatives.
