We are now looking for an ambitious, commercially aware Herd & Flock Dairy Manager to play a key role in the continued growth and success of the business.
The Role
This is a hands-on management position where livestock rearing and stockmanship are at the heart of the role. You will oversee the daily management of our dairy sheep and dairy goat enterprises, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, milk quality, hygiene, and operational efficiency. This is also a leadership role. We are looking for someone capable of helping build and develop a strong team structure that allows the business owners to step back from day-to-day operations and focus on wider business development and growth opportunities. The role would suit someone who thrives in a progressive farming environment, enjoys responsibility, and takes pride in achieving high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of dairy sheep and dairy goats
- Livestock rearing and youngstock management
- Milking operations and parlour management
- Maintaining exceptional hygiene and milk quality standards
- Feeding, grazing, and nutritional management
- Monitoring animal health, fertility, and performance
- Staff management, leadership, and training
- Managing staff rotas and weekend cover
- Assisting with recruitment and team building
- Creating efficient systems and routines within the dairy enterprise
- Record keeping and compliance
- Assisting with visitors, customers, and public engagement
- Helping drive efficiency, profitability, and business growth
- Has excellent livestock handling and stockmanship skills
- Understands commercial farming and attention to margins
- Has leadership ability and enjoys developing teams
- Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Maintains very high hygiene and presentation standards
