Carnoustie Golf Hotel & Spa is seeking an exceptional Operations Manager to help lead one of Scotland's most iconic golf and leisure destinations. We are looking for a hands-on hospitality professional with a strong Food & Beverage background who thrives on the floor, leads from the front and inspires teams through action rather than instruction. If you are happiest engaging with guests, coaching teams, driving standards and being at the heart of a busy operation, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the hotel with a particular focus on Food & Beverage performance, guest experience, team development and operational standards. You will be highly visible throughout the business, working closely with department heads and leading from the front during service periods, events and busy trading days. This role requires energy, pace, resilience and a genuine passion for hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all operational departments with a particular focus on Food & Beverage.
  • Drive exceptional guest experiences throughout the hotel.
  • Coach, develop and motivate departmental teams.
  • Ensure consistently high service standards across all areas.
  • Manage staffing levels, labour productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Support revenue growth through upselling and commercial awareness.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and compliance.
  • Act as Duty Manager and senior leader across the hotel.
  • Take ownership of guest feedback and service recovery.
  • Lead by example and be visible, approachable and supportive.

Who We're Looking For

  • Has previous experience in a senior hotel operational role.
  • Has a strong Food & Beverage background.
  • Is highly organised but not afraid to roll their sleeves up.
  • Enjoys coaching and developing people.
  • Leads with positivity, accountability and professionalism.
  • Has excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Understands the importance of guest experience.
  • Can remain calm under pressure.
  • Is commercially aware and focused on results.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who believes that leadership is earned on the floor, not from behind a desk.

The Carnoustie Way

  • Customer Focused: We put our guests at the heart of everything we do.
  • Knowledgeable: We continuously develop ourselves and take pride in our expertise.
  • Integrity: We do the right thing, even when nobody is watching.
  • Pace: We act with energy, purpose and a desire to get things done.
  • Professionalism: We represent our hotel, our destination and our colleagues with pride.
  • Togetherness: We work as One Team, supporting each other to achieve success.

These are not words on a wall. They are behaviours we expect to see every day.
