JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and compliance company seeking experienced PAT Engineers in Suffolk. We offer self-employed positions with flexible hours, allowing you to work part-time or full-time. All engineers must hold their own insurance, keep equipment calibrated annually, and comply with our technical support and branding kit.

As a self-employed PAT Engineer, you will be responsible for travelling to a range of sites including hospitals, retail outlets, offices, and industrial premises to test portable appliances, record data, and advise clients on safety and compliance. Engagements vary from one-day projects to long-term contracts, with earnings on a pro-rated basis based on the rate per appliance and the number of tests.

Responsibilities:
  • Pack and transport testing equipment and record books to client sites.
  • Perform electrical testing on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers, and other portable devices.
  • Interpret and record test results, identifying faulty or unsafe equipment.
  • Provide employers with test reports, completion certificates, and safety recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including electronic logs and checklists.
  • Communicate findings clearly and professionally to clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Valid insurance coverage and calibrated testing equipment.
  • Experience in PAT testing and a proven competence aligned with the City & Guilds standard.
  • Reliable, honest, and 'can do' attitude with strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to commute within Suffolk or regions that are reasonably accessible; nationwide travel accepted.
