We are looking for trainee solar roofers. This role is perfect for someone with general roofing experience who wants to develop a long-term career in the solar industry. You will receive full training in solar PV installation, DC wiring, MCS standards, and electrical safety.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assist with installing solar PV panels on roofs under supervision.
- Learn correct mounting, structural fixing, and weatherproofing methods.
- Support the installation of:
- DC wiring (module leads, string wiring, safe cable routing)
- DC isolators and connectors
- Monitoring hardware / optimizers
- Learn to work in compliance with:
- MCS 012- PV mounting systems
- IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected PV Systems
- BS 7671 (basic wiring and safety principles)
- BS EN 62446-1 (PV system testing/documentation awareness)
- Assist the senior roofer and electrician on site.
- Follow safety procedures for working at height, manual handling, and electrical hazard awareness.
What We’re Looking For:
- Roofing background preferred (but not essential).
- Comfortable working at heights and outdoors.
- Willingness to learn DC wiring and PV system installation.
- Good attitude, punctuality, and team‑focused work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and training.
- CSCS card (desirable)
- Existing familiarity with solar PV (desirable)
