Based in a beautiful College location in Cambridge city centre, Downing College offers opportunities for reliable cleaners who take pride in their work to join our friendly Housekeeping team. The Domestic Assistant will be responsible for cleaning and servicing areas located around College, including student and guest bedrooms, providing a first‑class service to the College community.

Responsibilities:

  • The role of Domestic Assistant is a permanent, part‑time position working 4 or 5 hours per day with an unpaid 30‑minute lunch break.
  • Hours are usually Monday to Friday but may include weekends as required, with a start time between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.
  • The hourly pay is £12.90 (Step 26). This equates to £13,479.96 per annum for 20 hours per week, or £16,849.95 for 25 hours.

Qualifications:

  • Achieve and maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness after training.
  • Capable of undertaking repetitive manual activities.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Have a good command of the English language.
  • Be observant.
