Purpose: To offer an effective accounting service to a range of client entities and to facilitate clients' other affairs including bookkeeping. To perform and be committed to effective client service and produce the quality of work expected to meet the Company's ethical and professional standards and support organisation success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing assistance to the team in undertaking the work for a portfolio of clients, ensuring work undertaken is completed to a high standard before submitting for review, clearly highlighting issues and providing potential solutions to those issues and endeavouring to exceed client expectations.
  • Preparing financial statements, where applicable, or reviewing client-prepared financial statements in preparation for review and sign-off by more senior team members.
  • Preparing management accounts, bookkeeping and other services as required, potentially at client premises.
  • Monitoring of own WIP and ensuring a positive contribution is made to departmental billing.
  • Maintaining good client relationships, keeping up-to-date with significant changes in client affairs and identifying further business opportunities.
  • Completing other ad hoc tasks, as required.
  • Understanding the firm's products and services and identifying opportunities to cross-sell.
  • Understanding the client base and being able to build relationships to ensure client retention and growth.
  • Acting as an ambassador of the firm, building relationships and promoting the firm at every opportunity to facilitate new business opportunities.
  • Obtaining a relevant professional qualification, if applicable, in accordance with a signed training agreement.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Highly PC literate with good knowledge of Windows software and Microsoft 365.
  • Possesses excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Is a team player but also has the confidence to work alone on certain engagements.
  • Has attention to detail to ensure that the quality of work will meet the required ethical and professional standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines coupled with a flexible attitude and a proactive approach to work.
  • Displays initiative and lateral thinking coupled with the ability to solve routine problems.
  • Analytical with the ability to analyse data from a variety of different sources.
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and has the confidence to deal with people at all levels.
  • Committed to effective client service.
  • Ability to apply the technical knowledge gained via the studies towards the professional qualification, if applicable.

Qualifications/Experience

  • School leaver: 112 UCAS points or equivalent / Graduate: Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent.
  • No relevant experience necessary.
