East Staffordshire Borough Council is committed to creating a safe environment for those within the Borough and is looking to recruit a Parking Enforcement Officer to join our team and play an important role in supporting our borough's car parks and public spaces. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of five officers, including a supervisor, delivering parking enforcement across East Staffordshire Borough Council's car parks. The role also includes enforcing littering and dog fouling regulations on Council-owned car parks, preparing witness statements and attending court when required.

What you'll be doing:

  • Patrolling Council-owned car parks and issuing Penalty Charge Notices where there are contraventions of the parking orders.
  • Maintaining the parking machines and reporting any car park defects.
  • Preparing accurate records, witness statements and attending court when needed.

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent communication and observational skills with the ability to record information clearly and accurately during patrols, for reports and witness statements.
  • Confidence in managing conflict and challenging behaviour while remaining calm, polite, helpful and professional when dealing with potentially difficult situations.
  • A full driving licence as the role requires the Officer to cover the whole of the East Staffordshire Borough.
  • GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent.
  • Basic IT skills are essential and an understanding of relevant law and practice, and a willingness to keep up to date with legislation.
  • Ideally, experience of working in a Local Authority environment alongside residents, Council Members and other stakeholders together with experience of parking enforcement and legislation.
  • Certified qualifications in the areas of Civil Enforcement would be desirable.

Working pattern: 15 hours per week on a shift pattern, including weekends, between the hours of 7am and 8pm. This includes Bank Holidays and over the Christmas and New Year period.
