The Dove River Practice is looking to add a new receptionist to the team. You will be working within a friendly GP Practice undertaking both admin duties and telephone calls, supported by the team. We are looking for a team player dedicated to providing the best service for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional and welcoming reception service for all patients and visitors.
  • Offer information to callers and visitors, or refer to other sources as appropriate.
  • Deal with patient queries via phone or face‑to‑face.
  • Book and amend appointments.
  • Check NHS Net and Outlook emails daily and act as required.
  • Handle prescription and prescription enquiries.
  • Liaise with other healthcare professionals via email or telephone.
  • Electronic filing of patient reports, results and documents.
  • Open, sort letters and post as necessary.
  • Support all clinical staff/management with general tasks as requested.
  • Carry out any other reception duties reasonably required by the doctors.

Shifts

  • Monday 13:00 – 18:30
  • Tuesday 08:00 – 18:00
  • Thursday 13:00 – 18:30

Annual leave cover is expected and may increase hours on those weeks. At least 4 weeks’ notice will be given. Shifts will be over both of our sites – Tutbury & Sudbury.

Hours & Location

Hours: 29 hours per week. Full training will be given but experience is desirable. You will be working for Drs Gilchrist and Fulford at the Dove River Practice, Tutbury Health Centre, Monk Street, Tutbury, Burton-on‑Trent, Staffordshire, DE13 9NA, and Gibb Lane, Sudbury, DE6 5HY.

Dress Code

A blouse provided by the Practice and sensible footwear are required.

Confidentiality

All patient information must be dealt with in the strictest confidence. Breaches may lead to instant dismissal.

Health & Safety

Assist in promoting and maintaining personal and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy. Use personal security systems, identify risks, and undertake activities in a risk‑managed manner. Make effective use of training to update knowledge and skill.

Safeguarding

All employees must safeguard the health and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults. Familiarise with and adhere to Safeguarding policies and complete mandatory statutory training.

Person Specification

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.

Experience

  • Experience in a customer service setting.
  • Experience working in a GP practice.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
