At Hinkley Point C, we're helping to build Britain's first new nuclear power station in a generation - providing zero carbon electricity for around six million homes. As a Tier One partner, GXO delivers essential warehousing and transport services to support the project.
Here at GXO, we're looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to champion safety standards, drive a proactive safety culture, and support our teams across a complex and highly regulated environment. This is a full time permanent position. You'll be working Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8am to 4pm. However, some flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!
Pay, benefits and more:
- We're looking to offer a salary of up to £40,000, depending on experience and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
- Your benefits package includes a company-sponsored pension scheme.
What you do on a typical day:
- Developing, leading and maintaining Management Plans, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
- Delivering and recording colleague safety training while identifying and escalating any gaps.
- Inputting, analysing and reporting Health, Safety and Environment data into both GXO and client systems.
- Chairing and presenting at HSE meetings, ensuring actions are tracked, closed and escalated where required.
- Managing contractors end to end - from permit checks and inductions to compliance, pass control and exit requirements.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Safety (plus evidence of ongoing CPD).
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and proven experience promoting a safety first culture.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure or defence environments (ideal but not essential).
- Confidence in auditing, risk assessment, incident investigation and driving continuous improvement.
