Description
To lead on the technical, tactical, physical and psychological development of AFC Bournemouth Women’s goalkeepers within a high performance environment. The postholder will design and deliver an elite standard goalkeeping programme aligned with the club’s playing philosophy, the Head Coach’s game model, and WSL2 performance expectations. This role is pivotal within the football operations structure, contributing to the club’s strategic goals and on-pitch success.

Key Responsibilities
- Goalkeeper Development & Coaching: Plan, deliver and review all goalkeeper training sessions for the Women’s First Team. Design position specific training that aligns with the Head Coach’s tactical approach and club playing philosophy. Provide technical, tactical and decision making development for all senior goalkeepers. Deliver individual development plans (IDPs) with measurable outcomes. Analyse goalkeeper performance in training and matches, providing video, data and feedback. Support integration and progression of Academy/PGA goalkeepers where appropriate (aligned with WSL talent pathway expectations).
- Match Preparation & Performance: Lead goalkeeper specific pre match warm ups and contribute to matchday technical preparation. Support opposition analysis with a focus on goalkeeper implications (e.g., pressing triggers, set pieces, restarts). Provide input into game plans and debriefs from a goalkeeper perspective.
- Performance, Wellbeing & Compliance: Work collaboratively within the MDT including sports science, medical, analysts and performance staff. Monitor physical and psychological wellbeing of goalkeepers, escalating concerns to medical or performance teams as required. Ensure all coaching delivery adheres to WSL performance support regulations, safeguarding standards, anti doping compliance, and clean sport requirements.
- Administration & Reporting: Maintain up to date training plans, attendance, and IDP records for reporting into the Head Coach and Head of Women’s Football. Submit required information for WSL audits, compliance checks and staff documentation. Support recruitment processes for senior and Academy goalkeepers, including trial identification and feedback. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
