Prison Officer - HMP Wealston
Protect the public and support inmates at HMP Wealston in Thorp Arch, Wetherby.
Responsibilities
- Maintain security and order within the prison.
- Build positive relationships with prisoners.
- Work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure a safe environment.
Eligibility & Requirements
- At least 18 years old.
- Meet Civil Service nationality requirements.
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment.
- Meet required eyesight and hearing standards.
- For category A prisons, have resided in the UK for 3 years.
- Valid right to work in the UK.
Travel & Working Hours
Prisons operate 24/7; shifts may include nights and public holidays. Driving licence and own transport are beneficial but not essential.
Pay & Benefits
- Training: 37 hours a week.
- Post training options: 37, 39, or 41 hours per week.
- Annual salaries:
- 37 hrs = £33,746
- 39 hrs = £35,875
- 41 hrs = £38,003
- Additional allowances apply.
