What You'll Be Doing

  • Maintain the process for payment of accounts to ensure that the company meets its obligations as they fall due, complies with its payment policy and strives to secure discounts where applicable.
  • Ensure invoices and credits are processed and follow up work is carried out on getting to payable status.
  • Raise queries with vendors within the timeline and Stores via the GIQ process.
  • Assist with the processing of invoices, ensuring correct authorisation is obtained.
  • Aim to ensure that the supply of goods to the company is not disrupted by disputes with suppliers over payments and take all such actions as are practical to minimise that disruption.
  • Ensure invoices and credits are actioned in line with payment due dates.
  • Chase credit notes/POD for invoices and GRC's.
  • Work as part of the Purchase Ledger team and across other areas of Finance.
  • Assist with ad hoc payment runs and supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Support workload for sickness and holiday cover.
  • Work alongside Purchase Ledger Support clerk and report to Purchase Ledger Manager (Stock).
  • Assist the Purchase Ledger Manager with other head office support duties as required.
  • Undertake any other duties, activities, projects outside their job role that may be assigned to support the needs of the business.
  • Encourage a friendly working environment, contributing ideas but happy to work under instruction when required.
  • Be flexible and willing to take on new tasks or change plans to enable the team to deliver on commitments or requests.
  • Have good communication skills with external and internal third parties.

The working hours for this role are 37.5 per week working Monday to Friday.

  • Considerable experience of working in accounts or in a similar environment.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Proficient with Excel.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience of dealing with varied amounts of paperwork in a fast-moving and high-volume environment.
  • Good query resolution skills.
