Human Appeal is seeking a Head of Global Programme Finance based in Cheadle or Birmingham, UK to join our team. The position requires full time office presence on a permanent basis and offers a competitive salary. As the Head of Global Programme Finance, you will lead Human Appeal's international finance operations. Reporting to the Global Director of Finance, you will oversee financial management across Country Offices and Partner Offices, support global programme delivery, and ensure effective financial control, governance, systems, and compliance. The role includes senior management team (SMT) reporting, decision making support through financial analysis, and capacity building for field offices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership and financial management of global programme finance.
- Finance and compliance management for international operations.
- Systems and financial transformation, including ERP/system implementation.
- Business partnership and cross collaboration with Global Programmes, HA G teams, and field teams.
- Team leadership and capacity building of the international finance team.
- Contribution to programme efficiencies and operational excellence.
- Process improvement initiatives across global finance functions.
- Regular SMT level reporting and financial analysis to support decision making.
- Travel to support delivery and capacity building in field offices as required.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of post qualification experience with significant leadership responsibilities.
- Strong background in financial oversight of international operations, ideally within INGOs or complex federated structures.
- Advanced experience in ERP/system implementation.
- Deep understanding of donor financial compliance, project accounting, and cross border finance operations.
- Demonstrable experience in budget development, accounting principles, financial reporting, accounting systems, and financial administration.
- Proficiency with Office 365 and accounting software.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional languages such as Arabic, Spanish, or French are desirable.
