About the Role

Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-established and high-quality nursery setting in Westminster to recruit a dedicated and experienced Baby Room Leader. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Early Years professional to take the lead in a baby room, supporting children aged 6 months to 2 years within a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment. The role combines hands-on childcare with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for an experienced Room Leader, Third in Charge, or an aspiring Deputy Manager ready for the next step.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day running of the baby room
  • Deliver high-quality care, safeguarding, and learning opportunities
  • Support babies' routines, including feeding, sleeping, and personal care
  • Build strong, secure attachments with children and positive relationships with families
  • Monitor and track children's development in line with EYFS
  • Coach and support team members through role modelling and supervision
  • Ensure compliance with EYFS, Ofsted standards, and internal policies
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Support transitions, settling-in processes, and parental engagement

Requirements

Essential:

  • Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS, particularly birth to 2 years
  • Experience working with children aged 6 months to 2 years
  • Experience leading or supporting a team within a nursery setting
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding and health & safety requirements
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting staff development (e.g. coaching or peer observations)
  • Knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and inspection readiness
  • Additional language skills (e.g. Mandarin)
