We have a fantastic opportunity for an Adult Social Care Lawyer to join our in house Legal Services team at Buckinghamshire Council. Are you committed to making a difference? The salary advertised for this role is dependent on experience. We have a full time post available, however, we would consider applications for part time work. Please note if you are working part time the salary would be pro rata. This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 6 months.

About the role

We are seeking an Adult Social Care lawyer who is able to offer proactive, innovative and customer focussed advice. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and our client departments to deliver the Council's statutory functions. We offer a vibrant and stimulating legal environment, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing. We aim to inspire and develop our in house lawyers to be leaders in their field.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct legal files on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council and provide advice, representation and undertake research in relation to adult social care, including advising on the Council's responsibilities in respect of adults with support needs, Court of Protection, community care, adult safeguarding and judicial review work.
  • Attend meetings and court to advise officers and members in a proactive and politically sensitive manner and uphold the highest standards of client care.
  • Give guidance, mentor and give training to less experienced team members and contribute to the development of the team of specialist lawyers.

About you

We welcome applications from Solicitors, Barristers and Legal Executives with standalone practice rights who have experience of advising in relation to adult social care matters including mental capacity and DoLs, Court of Protection work, judicial reviews, ordinary residence queries, and other matters relating to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. We prefer candidates who are highly motivated and proactive. Whether you are newly qualified or have significant experience of adult social care work built from a career in the public or private sector, we are interested to hear.

Any Desk

As an 'any desk' worker, you'll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
