Our Place is Action on Disability's community hub led by and for Disabled people. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and creative-minded person to join the Our Place team as the Art Group Peer Lead. The ideal volunteer is someone who enjoys working with people, is a good listener, and feels confident supporting a group in a welcoming way. As Our Place is led by and for Disabled people, we particularly welcome applications from Disabled volunteers and those with lived experience of disability. You don't need to be a professional artist, but an interest in creative activities and a positive, encouraging attitude are essential. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to creating a safe and accessible space for everyone are key qualities we value.
As the Art Group Peer Lead, you will play an important role in supporting a creative, inclusive space where participants can express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others through art.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting and helping to lead weekly art group sessions
- Encouraging participation and peer support within the group
- Helping to create a welcoming, safe, and accessible environment
- Assisting with setting up and tidying away art materials
- Sharing ideas for creative activities and themes
- Working alongside staff and other volunteers to support the group's needs
