Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, Day Shift (e.g. 07:30-16:00 with early finish Friday). A well-established precision engineering company based in Aldershot is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist / Toolroom Engineer with strong grinding experience. This is a superb opportunity to join a long-standing, stable business producing complex, low-volume components for high-spec industries including aerospace, defence and motorsport. We're helping them identify a capable, hands-on machinist with a strong grounding in surface, cylindrical or bore grinding.

Manual Machinist Responsibilities

  • Operate manual grinding machinery including:
    • Surface grinders
    • Cylindrical grinders
    • Bore/internal grinders
  • Produce one-off and small batch precision components to tight tolerances
  • Work from engineering drawings and job cards
  • Use measuring tools (micrometers, gauges etc.) to inspect and ensure accuracy
  • Operate additional manual machines such as lathes and mills as required
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet customer specs and deadlines

Manual Machinist Requirements

  • Proven experience in manual machining and precision grinding
  • Strong skills in surface, cylindrical and internal grinding
  • Comfortable working to fine tolerances from technical drawings
  • Self-sufficient, accurate and methodical approach to work
  • Apprentice-trained or qualified by experience in an engineering environment
