Overview of the Air or Road Export Freight Clerk position at an independent freight forwarder.

Responsibilities:

  • Air or road freight export operations.
  • Co‑ordination with customers and overseas agents.
  • Door to door shipments.
  • Prepare and submit export customs entries on CDS, fully compliant in all freight/shipping procedures.
  • Monitor ETA and advise of any changes.
  • Updating customers with the status of their shipments.
  • Ensuring each customer receives all required documentation.
  • Invoicing jobs in a timely manner.
  • Providing excellent customer services, dealing with queries and problem solving.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in airfreight or road freight export operations.
  • CDS experience preferred; training will be provided if not available.
  • Able to prioritize own workload but also work as part of a team.
  • Great communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Customer services orientated.
  • Due to CAA & DfT legislation, DBS check covering the last 5 years required.
  • Able to provide 5-year references with no unexplained gaps.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary band £28,000-32,000 with annual bonus.
  • Free on‑site parking.
  • Good working atmosphere with friendly team.
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30‑17:00 or 09:00‑17:30.
  • Holidays: 28 days including bank holidays and pension.
