About the Role
Our client, an international freight company, are looking for experienced Air Export Clerks to join their busy air freight operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with air freight export or freight forwarding experience. The role would suit organised and proactive individuals who are confident working within a fast paced export operations environment and can manage shipments efficiently from start to finish.
Main Responsibilities
- Arrange and process export air freight shipments from origin through to departure
- Create and manage export files within operational systems
- Ensure all shipment documentation is accurate and completed on time, including MAWB, HAWB and export customs documentation
- Liaise with customers, airlines, handling agents, hauliers, overseas offices and internal departments
- Book cargo with airlines
- Arrange collections and coordinate transport requirements
- Ensure customs compliance and export security requirements are met
- Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers
- Resolve operational issues, delays or service failures quickly and professionally
- Ensure milestones and shipment updates are entered correctly within operational systems
- Support timely and accurate billing by ensuring buy and sell rates are entered correctly
- Maintain KPI and service level performance standards
- Follow company SOPs, compliance procedures and security regulations
- Support team members during peak periods and holiday cover
What you need
- Previous experience within air freight exports or freight forwarding is preferred
- Knowledge of export customs procedures and air freight documentation
- Good understanding of airline booking processes and cargo handling
- Experience using freight forwarding systems
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills
- Dangerous Goods awareness
- Knowledge of healthcare or temperature controlled shipments
- Understanding of export compliance and aviation security requirements
- Experience working with airline portals and tracking systems
