We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised Quality Assurance Assistant to support our QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) department. This role plays a vital part in maintaining compliance with food safety standards and ensuring the smooth operation of our quality management systems. You'll assist in audits, support food safety processes, respond to customer and supplier documentation requests, and step in for lab cover when needed. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in food manufacturing or food safety, who is looking to grow within a strong and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the completion of customer and supplier questionnaires and documentation requests
- Maintain and update QHSE databases including MSDS, supplier assurance, and risk assessments
- Complete annual validation checks for all Critical Control Points (CCPs) on site
- Carry out and update internal audits including:
- BRC Global Standard for Food Safety (BRCGS)
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
- GMP, Glass & Plastic, and hygiene inspections
- Assist with investigations into customer complaints
- Support the management of TACCP and VACCP risk assessments
- Provide cover for laboratory work during staff absence
- Raise purchase orders for laboratory and QHSE-related materials
- File documentation related to raw materials and finished goods
- Participate in internal health and safety inspections
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Experience in a food manufacturing or food safety environment
- Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., BRCGS, ISO standards)
- Good understanding of food safety principles and CCPs
- Strong administration, communication, and IT skills
- Education in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline
Desirable
- Previous exposure to supplier or customer audits
- Familiarity with laboratory practices in the food industry
