Calor is looking for a Trainee Vessel Inspector to join our team at Stoney Stanton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with gas experience who wants to develop specialist skills in vessel inspection, safety compliance, and pressure systems within a structured training programme.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Trainee Vessel Inspector, you will be trained in all aspects of bulk vessel inspection to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of LPG tanks before they are delivered to depots and customers. Your role will include:
- Inspecting new and refurbished LPG vessels for quality, integrity, and safety compliance
- Checking vessels for leaks and ensuring all safety devices are operational
- Gas charging and de-gassing vessels in line with procedures
- Recording and managing vessel movements using computer systems (SAP or similar)
- Supporting yard operations and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety
- Working both indoors and outdoors in a hands-on operational environment
- Contributing to continuous improvement and safe working practices
Training & Development
This role offers a clear route to competency with:
- A structured three-year training programme
- Practical and written assessments
- Internal authorisation to carry out inspection and gas-related work
- Ongoing support from experienced inspectors and the wider engineering team
- Salary increases as you progress through each stage of competency
No LPG experience is essential, however a minimum of 1 year’s experience working with gas is required.
Working Hours & Breaks
Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Morning break: 15 minutes
Lunch break: 30 minutes (between 12:30pm – 1:30pm)
Afternoon break: 10 minutes
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum 1 year experience working with gas systems
- Good computer and administrative skills (record keeping is a key part of the role)
- Strong focus on health & safety and attention to detail
- Willingness to complete a structured training programme
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
- Organised, reliable, and able to work as part of a team
- UK Driving License
Desirable:
- Engineering background or qualification
- Experience with pressure systems or tanks
- FLT licence (or willingness to train)
