National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Team Leader Field Operations to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage. From rugged escarpments to world-class visitor destinations, the Blue Mountains offers a unique and challenging operational environment—and we’re looking for a people-first leader who can bring teams together, drive performance, and coordinate complex operational programs across a diverse and dynamic environment.
About the role: In this pivotal leadership role, you’ll plan, coordinate and deliver major works programs across the Blue Mountains region - ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget. From infrastructure upgrades and asset maintenance to fire and incident management, you’ll play a key role in protecting this World Heritage-listed landscape while supporting high-quality visitor experiences. This is a coordination-heavy leadership role—more office-based but closely connected to on-ground operations—leading teams and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
What we’re looking for: This role is ideal for a practical, operational leader who thrives on coordination, planning and leading people. Someone who thrives in complexity, enjoys problem solving, and can pivot quickly as priorities change. You’ll bring:

- Solid technical and operational understanding (construction, maintenance, asset or field-based environments)
- Experience managing contractors and external service providers
- Capability (or willingness) to lead incident and fire management operations

Essential requirements: Current Senior First Aid Certificate and driver’s licence including four-wheel driving certificate. This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW’s most precious natural places. Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (i.e. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant. The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
