Permanent full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity. Preferred office locations are Buronga, Dubbo and Newcastle with potential for negotiation across NSW; hybrid working supported. Salary relative to experience, ranging from $144,018 to $158,718 per annum + super.
Our Conservation Programs Division seeks to appoint 3 Senior Environmental Water Management and Conservation Officers to shape the future of NSW’s rivers, wetlands and floodplains. Each role focuses on a specific geographic area: Lower Murray, NSW Border Rivers/Namoi-Peel, and Hunter regions.
In this senior position, you will drive the design and delivery of environmental water, protecting and restoring vital ecosystems across the state. You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, leading planning, management and reporting activities, providing trusted expert advice to inform key water management decisions, input to monitoring programs and managing complex, high-profile projects from concept through to completion.
Working in a dynamic and often complex environment, you will build and strengthen partnerships across government, industry and communities, influence outcomes and lead a small team to deliver meaningful conservation results aligned with legislation, policy and best practice.
About You
You are an experienced environmental professional with demonstrated expertise in environmental water, river or wetland management. You bring a deep understanding of water policy, legislation and conservation frameworks, along with a proven ability to manage projects and competing priorities. You are a confident communicator and collaborator, able to translate technical information for diverse audiences and influence outcomes across a range of stakeholders. You also have demonstrated leadership capability, with experience guiding and developing teams.

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as environmental science, natural resource planning and/or equivalent experience.
