Currently, we are seeking results-oriented Metallurgist and Senior Metallurgist to join our clients team. This role is pivotal in driving metallurgical solutions, ensuring the integrity and performance of materials used in various energy applications. As a Senior Metallurgist, you will leverage your knowledge and experience to support multiple projects, conduct detailed analyses, and develop innovative approaches to material selection and processing. This position requires a blend of technical acumen, analytical skills, and leadership qualities to guide and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives and optimize results. Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed metallurgical analysis and testing to support project development.
  • Develop and implement metallurgical processes and procedures for material evaluations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to select appropriate materials for specific applications.
  • Lead investigations into material failures and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Mentor and train junior metallurgists and engineering staff in best practices.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on metallurgical findings and recommendations.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in metallurgy and materials science to ensure best practices.

Specific Competencies:

  • Expert understanding and capability to deliver site based metallurgical replication, replica assessment, PMI and Hardness testing.
  • UKAS competency assessment for Metallurgical Assessment techniques.
  • Expert in failure investigations and root cause analysis using various lab-based metallography and optical microscopy equipment.
  • Material certification review.
  • Strong understanding of plant operating data and inspection history across our customer portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of small-scale lab-based heat treatment operations and research.
  • Recommendation and approval of plant repair strategies and methodologies.
  • Creation of Safe Systems of work creation and oversight, including all control of workflow documentation for Metallurgical Assessment projects.
  • Strong track record of project managing Metallurgical Assessment projects to a safe, on time and on budget completion.
  • Thorough knowledge of QHSE processes and procedures including the use of Safe Systems of Work, Project Work Packs, Work Order Control Cards, Toolbox talks, Point of Work Risk Assessments, Critical Task Identification and Assessment and Manufacturing Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Test Procedures.
  • Bachelor\’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field; a Master\’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in metallurgical engineering, preferably in the Oil & Energy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, testing techniques, and failure analysis.
  • Proficiency in metallurgical modeling software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
