About the school: JRCS is a brand-new secondary school established in 2002, now located in award‑winning £30 million accommodation. It enjoys easy access to central London via the District Line and is just minutes by car from the Essex countryside. The school prides itself on providing effective professional development and a high level of challenge for staff. Wednesday afternoons are dedicated to CPD. JRCS has a low staff turnover and a supportive, friendly community. In 2024/25, 69% of students achieved level 4+ in English and Maths and 48% achieved level 5. At KS5, 84% achieved A‑C grades, with 64% achieving A‑B grades. The Sixth Form works in partnership with four other schools to deliver high‑quality post‑16 pathways. Responsibilities:
- Teach KS3 to KS4 students in Science, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Potential to teach specialist subjects at KS5.
- Deliver GCSE Combined Science and separate sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) in KS4.
- Deliver A‑Level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in KS5.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art laboratories equipped with interactive display panels, visualisers, and practical apparatus.
- Support pupils’ pastoral care and character development.
- Engage with the school’s inclusive ethos and "Success for All" motto.
Qualifications:
- Qualified teacher with experience or an entry‑level teacher (ECT) with a PGCE.
- Ability to work across the science curriculum from KS3 to KS5.
- Strong commitment to continuous professional development.
- Experience working in a curriculum that goes beyond the national framework is desirable.
Induction and support:
The successful candidate will receive a high‑quality induction, including a two‑week ECT school‑based immersion programme in July, and will have access to experienced PGCE and ECT mentors.
