At JO Recruitment, we are working with a secondary school in South Norwood to recruit reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to support on a supply basis, covering both planned absences and last-minute sickness. You can set your own availability each week, making this ideal for those seeking part-time or full-time work.
About the role
You will be covering lessons across the school to support classroom teachers during PPA time or staff absences. Work will be pre-set, and your role will focus on supervising students and ensuring learning continues in the teacher's absence. We do not require previous Cover Supervisor experience; however, applicants must hold a degree and have experience working with young people. We welcome applications from graduates, youth workers, support workers, sports coaches, and similar backgrounds. Behaviour can be challenging at times in supply settings, so you must be adaptable, personable, and confident managing a classroom.
Your role as a Cover Supervisor
- Supervising pupils to complete pre-planned work
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively
- Assisting students with questions about set tasks
- Following the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies
- Collecting completed work and returning it to the relevant department
- Providing brief feedback on lessons covered
