We are looking for a 6-week temporary, practical and customer focused Caretaker to join the Innovation Centre Medway team, while the regular caretaker is on light duties (start time 7am). This is a hands-on operational role supporting the smooth day-to-day running of Innovation Centre Medway. The postholder will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean and well-presented environment for tenants, visitors and staff, while working closely with the wider site team. The role includes caretaking, handyman and Health and Safety responsibilities; they must be a qualified Fire Warden and First Aider.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry out general caretaking duties, ensuring the building and shared areas are clean, safe and presented to an agreed standard and supporting contractors on site.
- Set up meeting rooms and event spaces – including preparing up to three meeting rooms daily ready for the day, arranging furniture layouts, setting up equipment, and carrying out light cleaning such as vacuuming, emptying bins, wiping tables and surfaces.
- Liaising with contractors, reporting faults and issues and completing logs and records.
- Carry out Health and Safety duties – including acting as a Fire Warden, Fire Evacuation Chair operator and supporting evacuations when required, and maintaining compliance with site safety procedures.
- Act as a First Aider, providing initial response when required and maintaining first aid arrangements on site.
