Jo Holdsworth Recruitment are excited to be working with a highly successful entrepreneur who is hiring a Managing Director to lead a newly formed events business based in Leeds. As Managing Director, you will have end-to-end responsibility for building, leading and scaling the events. You will take a high-level vision and turn it into a commercially successful operation overseeing the launch and growth of multiple large-scale UK conferences. Reporting directly to the owner, you will have the autonomy to build high-performing teams and deliver outstanding events that set new standards in their sectors.
Responsibilities
- Developing the outline, key deliverables, and programme for each event in collaboration with the Owner
- Lead the overall strategy, operation and commercial performance of the events
- Translate a high-level event vision into deliverable, profitable conferences
- Oversee the planning, launch and execution of multiple large-scale events
- Build, develop and lead senior teams across operations, content, sales and marketing
- Work closely with central sales, marketing and finance functions to maximise performance
- Ensure each event is delivered to exceptional quality, on time and on budget
- Drive revenue growth, profitability and long-term business value
- Create a scalable business model capable of exit within 3–5 years
Requirements
- Recent and relevant experience at senior level within the UK events or conferences sector
- Proven track record of managing and growing profitable event-led businesses
- Experience running multiple events concurrently
- Strong commercial acumen with a clear focus on ROI and business growth
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams
- Highly organised, decisive and able to operate at pace
- Able to work primarily office-based in Leeds (within reasonable commuting distance)
