This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to step into a senior finance leadership role within a well-established, multi-entity business. Reporting to a highly experienced Group Finance Director, you will take ownership of financial control, group reporting, compliance and team leadership, while also playing a key part in supporting wider business decision-making. It is a role for someone who enjoys building strong control environments, leading from the front and making sure the numbers tell the full story. You will need to be just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves on month-end and consolidations as you are partnering with senior stakeholders and helping drive improvements across the wider finance function. The role involves leading a capable finance team and overseeing the smooth running of financial operations across a multi-entity group structure. You will be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and insightful reporting, maintaining robust financial controls and supporting the delivery of high standards across all areas of finance. This is a broad and high-profile role, offering exposure to group consolidations, management accounts, statutory reporting, audit, tax, VAT, payroll oversight, cash flow and working capital, alongside process improvement and systems development.
Key responsibilities:- Lead the finance function across multiple entities within the group
- Manage, mentor and develop a team of finance professionals across transactional and reporting activity
- Oversee the full month-end close process and ensure accurate delivery of management accounts to deadline
- Prepare group consolidations and ensure high-quality monthly financial reporting
- Maintain strong balance sheet control and oversee reconciliations across the group
- Take ownership of financial control, reporting accuracy and compliance
- Act as the key point of contact for external audit and support statutory accounts preparation
- Oversee VAT, tax coordination, and wider financial compliance processes
- Support payroll input and liaise with outsourced payroll providers where required
- Monitor cash flow, working capital and aged debt performance
- Partner with senior finance leadership around budgeting, forecasting and commercial planning
- Help improve reporting, streamline processes and drive automation across finance
- Support finance systems improvements and implementation activity where needed
- Ensure policies, controls and procedures are embedded consistently across the business
- Contribute positively to a high-performance, continuous-improvement culture
About you: You will be a qualified accountant with a strong technical grounding and previous experience operating in a senior finance role within a complex or multi-entity environment. You will likely already be working as a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or in a similar leadership role, and will bring a mix of technical credibility, team leadership and business-facing confidence. You will be someone who notices the detail, understands the bigger picture and is motivated by delivering both accuracy and improvement.
What we are looking for:- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role (5+ years)
- Strong experience of group consolidations and multi-entity reporting ideal
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including UK GAAP
- Experience overseeing management accounts, month-end close, statutory accounts and audit processes
- Good working knowledge of VAT, tax and financial compliance
- Previous experience managing and developing a finance team
- Strong systems skills and excellent Excel capability
- Able to work effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlines
- Confident communicator with the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders
- High level of organisation, accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience within a regulated or financial services-led environment
- Knowledge of Sage 200
- Exposure to regulatory reporting
