Azure Cloud Engineer

Rugby – Hybrid

Up to £70,000 per annum

We are working with a market leading and nationwide group that is actively recruiting for an Azure Cloud Engineer to join on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business that is known for developing people and promoting from within.

This is a vital role for the business, with the key purpose of the role being to drive forward the company’s work or migrating their remaining on prem infrastructure into a fully Azure based cloud environment. You will act as a subject matter expert and technical lead regarding Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, DevOps and App modernisation. They are keen to find a strong hands on engineer who is also interested in contributing designs for new Azure services.

This is a hybrid position based in Rugby, initially a couple of days per week on-site which is then likely to reduce to 2-3 days per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote Azure DevOps to the teams through mentoring teams, training sessions and workshops
  • Develop a long-term strategy for cloud and IaC technologies across the business
  • Lead the design and deployment of IaaS and PaaS
  • Build CI/CD pipelines with Terraform in Azure
  • Create Terraform templates and modules
  • Work to Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)
  • Lead the migration of the services from VMware into Azure
  • Use PaaS and Automate as much as possible
  • Develop stakeholder relationships, provide insight and foster engagement

Key skills required:

  • Strong professional experience in Azure Cloud Engineering, DevOps & Platform Engineering
  • Strong CI/CD pipelines & Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with Terraform
  • Strong Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to Platform as a Service (PaaS) experience of app modernisation
  • Migrating from on-prem/hybrid to fully Azure cloud – re-hosted & re-platform
  • Experienced with Windows Server, SQL Server and VMware
  • Scripting & automation experience – PowerShell
  • Mentor and knowledge transfer to colleagues
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Azure certification
