About the Opportunity

JN Technical is recruiting on behalf of a well-established structural steel fabricator operating across a variety of UK sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Connection Designer to join their engineering department on a remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled designer who can help deliver large scale steel structures.

Role Responsibilities

  • Produce safe, efficient, and compliant structural steel connection designs to Eurocodes/BS standards.
  • Prepare detailed calculations, sketches, and design reports for approval.
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, detailers, and fabrication teams to resolve technical queries.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models to determine connection requirements.
  • Provide technical input during tender, design, and construction phases.
  • Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, and fabrication requirements.
  • Support value engineering and buildability improvements.
  • Work independently while maintaining clear communication with the wider project team.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a structural steel connection designer within a UK fabrication or consultancy environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Eurocode 3 and relevant British Standards.
  • Proficiency with connection design software (e.g., IDEA StatiCa, Tekla Tedds, MasterSeries, or similar).
  • Ability to interpret GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and 3D models.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate remotely.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Structural or Civil Engineering preferred, though strong experience is equally valued.
