MMB has been named a capital delivery partner on two multi‑million‑pound ‘lots’ that will see the company deliver projects across the region through to 2030 – with the potential for a five‑year extension into AMP9 thereafter. Wessex Water serves 2.9 million customers with water and sewerage services across the southwest of England. Set for record investment in AMP8 – more than double that of AMP7 – MMB will bring its strong track record of innovation and direct‑delivery to drive a programme of work to improve water and wastewater treatment, water and wastewater networks, storm overflows, flooding resilience, and bioresources.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities – from improving flood defences, to upgrading water treatment works and providing nature‑based solutions that improve biodiversity. You will be involved throughout the entire project life cycle, from early contractor involvement, optioneering, tender negotiation through to the design, procurement, construct, commissioning and handover of schemes. You will ensure that our projects are financially viable, legally compliant, and completed to the required standards.
The Role Of a Quantity Surveyor Includes:
- Ensuring robust cost management processes are in place, providing accurate and timely reports, data, and analysis to assist in commercial decisions.
- Working closely with the delivery team to identify, implement, and monitor efficiency plans throughout the project lifecycle.
- Actively challenge team members to drive best value for clients in project delivery.
- Ensuring all project team members understand the contractual arrangements to meet client requirements.
- Supporting our clients to maximise opportunities and mitigate risks to help deliver successful outcomes.
- Influencing and advising on the contractual and commercial aspects of schemes to ensure robust project control.
- Creating, fostering and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding client needs and ensuring clear communication at all times.
- Providing guidance and support to junior commercial staff.
- Aspiration for development into management role in the future.
What You’ll Need:
- Preferably a degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience and knowledge of NEC Contracts.
- A practical mindset, good math skills, the ability to solve problems and manage project finances.
- Flexibility and adaptiveness to work in client environments to meet the needs of the projects.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.
