MMB has been named a capital delivery partner on two multi-million-pound lots that will see the company deliver projects across the region through to 2030, with the potential for a five-year extension into AMP9 thereafter. Wessex Water serves 2.9 million customers with water and sewerage services across the southwest of England. With sites located across the South of the region including Poole, Dorset and Bournemouth. Engineering is at the very core of what we do. Be it civil, mechanical or electrical, our engineers are based on site and play a practical, hands-on role in the successful delivery of projects.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you’ll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities – from improving flood defences, to upgrading water treatment works and providing nature-based solutions that improve biodiversity. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the mechanical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all mechanical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical installations on process plants, integrating design, construction and commissioning, and supporting pre-construction activities including design input, QA, procurement and commercial support.
  • Contribute to framework and project safety procedures, and manage construction‑phase activities such as outage planning, subcontractor oversight, programme management and mechanical/process safety.
  • Lead Quality Assurance through ITPs, acceptance documents, training materials, completion documentation and defect management, driving a strong QA/QC culture.
  • Commission mechanical plant, manage performance testing, and ensure projects are delivered to “As Constructed” status with accurate completion documentation.
  • Support and develop Mechanical Engineers within the team.

What You’ll Need

  • CSCS.
  • HNC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Working towards professional registration with an appropriate body.
  • Understand civil engineering principles and MEICA construction.
  • Understanding of relevant British & International Standards with a good knowledge of Client and WIMES standards.
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.

What Would Be Desirable

  • Experience working with pumps, pipework, valves, screens, scrapers, mixers, blowers would be beneficial.
  • May suit persons with a previous background in mechanical quality assurance, a supervisory role in mechanical process installation or technical role at a process plant supplier.
