As a Commercial Manager working within this unit, you will work closely with other senior members of the Management Team to deliver a diverse portfolio of clients - including the Environment Agency, Associated British Ports (ABP), Rolls Royce, Canal and River Trust, the Mining Remediation Authority, National Grid, Cadent Gas, P&G and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), as well as local authorities.

These projects range from flood alleviation, water treatment and infrastructure construction to industrial buildings and gas network upgrades.

Your role will be to report on the financial and contractual performance of individual projects and the performance of the framework, consisting of the management and development of the subcontract supply chain within the Framework.

You will also manage, lead, develop and motivate our commercial team.

Other aspects of your role will include

  • Establishing and maintaining a financial forecasting regime.
  • Actively manage Opportunities and Risks within the programme and promote efficient delivery.
  • Provide effective communication with customers and colleagues regarding any commercial and supply chain issues.
  • Positively challenge current commercial thinking and agreements.
  • Manage the procurement process ensuring that all strategies are developed and agreed and that tender processes are followed correctly.
  • Subcontractors are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including compliance, communications, payments, compensation events and programme submissions.
  • Ensure robust cost management is always undertaken including accurate live forecasting and actual costs vs estimates.
  • Actively engage with the Supply Chain to promote safe, sustainable & cost-efficient practice.

It is essential that you can demonstrate the following

  • Strong track record in Commercial Management with experience of dealing with a programme of multiple contracts with from a civils background
  • Will drive Commercial Leadership within the division and across the region.
  • Experience of successfully managing a team
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of projects
  • Proven experience of working with clients and ability to influence clients to achieve excellent relationships and positive outcomes for both parties
  • Demonstrable experience of people and programme of works management
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience of challenging current commercial thinking and agreements
  • Proven experience in working collaboratively and leading from the front with best practice and behaviours
  • Use of technology to drive performance
  • Collaborate across teams and projects to share best practices and drive innovation.
