We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Manchester office in a fast growing and entrepreneurial team which is recognised by Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500. The team work collaboratively and are looking for a Senior Associate to work closely with the Partners. Our small but specialist team work on a variety of high-quality engagements and provide expert advice to both businesses and individuals on all areas of immigration law as it constantly evolves. Our corporate clients include several household names within the hospitality and care sectors. This is a pivotal role to provide cover for the Immigration Partner, offering the opportunity to progress your career while managing the team, and helping to shape the future direction of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in all areas of UK immigration law, including visa applications and appeals.
- Ensure that all work is carried out to the highest standard.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, building a strong reputation for the Manchester office in the field of immigration law.
- Maintain expertise by keeping up to date with developments in immigration law and policy, and ensure that all advice and representation provided to clients is accurate.
- Generate and manage a caseload of complex immigration cases, ensuring that all work is completed within strict deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to ensure that clients receive the best possible service.
- Provide support to junior members of the immigration team.
- Proactively manage own caseload in a profitable and efficient manner.
- Take responsibility for own financial contribution.
- The team are active with speaking engagements, and there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved with networking and business development activities for the right candidate.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- This role would suit an ambitious Senior Associate from a leading practice, ideally with at least 6 PQE (although candidates ready for a junior Partner role will also be considered).
- Qualified solicitor with significant experience in UK immigration law.
- Experience in advising employers and individuals on a range of immigration law and policy.
- Excellent knowledge of UK immigration law and policy and stays abreast of all latest developments.
- Strong legal research and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- An interest in BD and an ability to generate work is desirable.
