We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Litigation Solicitor to join our market leading and well respected Property Litigation Team at JMW. The team acts for a number of high profile, household names alongside a variety of companies, developers, managing agents, investors and private clients. This is a dynamic environment, where Partners take a hands‑on approach to the development of the team. This role would suit a Property and Commercial Litigator with c.3‑6 years PQE.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a diverse caseload of disputes with an emphasis on property related matters, providing expert legal advice and representation to clients.
- Manage their own caseload as well as supporting partners on larger disputes.
- Have a client facing role, develop their professional skills and assist in the team’s business development and marketing strategies.
- Independently manage a varied caseload of property litigation matters including landlord and tenant disputes, boundary disputes, lease renewals, and property damage claims and some general commercial litigation disputes.
- Assist partners and senior solicitors on high value/complex disputes and collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive legal solutions.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
- Represent clients in court, tribunals, and mediation.
- Conduct legal research, stay updated on relevant property law developments, produce articles and blogs and provide internal and external training.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records and manage compliance and cashflow on files.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Solicitor with circa 3‑6 years PQE (though we will consider outstanding candidates outside of this).
- Exposure to a variety of disputes, including property related matters, gained within a leading practice.
- Strong knowledge of property law and litigation procedures.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and work under pressure.
- Exceptional ability to communicate, with strong drafting skills.
- Proficiency in legal research and use of legal databases.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and a strong team ethic.
- Ambitious mindset and a keen interest in business development.
