Our highly organised and proactive Legal Support Assistants support our Clinical Negligence team. The role is ideal for those with a keen interest in medical law and a strong desire to contribute to justice for individuals affected by clinical errors. You will assist a solicitor in managing a caseload of complex and sensitive claims, ensuring smooth case progression and excellent client care. You will also support the wider team as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an effective, timely and efficient service to the firm’s clients
- Communicate with clients of the department in a professional and courteous manner
- Ensure excellent service standards and maintain high client satisfaction
- Manage medical records, requesting, chasing, downloading and copying documentation
- Manage case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date, utilising the department key and correspondent pins
- Liaise with clients, medical experts, counsel, and other third parties
- Assist with progressing matters by following the clinical negligence map
- Assist in preparing court bundles and trial documentation
- Maintain case management systems to ensure regulatory compliance
- Assist with boxing, storage, archiving, timesheets, court issuing, post, photocopying, faxing and general administration duties
- Effective diary management for the team, organising meetings and managing expenses
- Assist with processing bills
- Audio typing and preparing documentation
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience as an administrator or paralegal, ideally in clinical negligence or personal injury
- Strong understanding of legal or medical procedures and terminology
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident when dealing with third parties over the phone
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skill
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally legal case management software
Desirable
- Experience reviewing medical records and understanding medical terminology
- Familiarity with the Pre-Action Protocol for Clinical Negligence Claims
