Our highly organised and proactive Legal Support Assistants support our Clinical Negligence team. The role is ideal for those with a keen interest in medical law and a strong desire to contribute to justice for individuals affected by clinical errors. You will assist a solicitor in managing a caseload of complex and sensitive claims, ensuring smooth case progression and excellent client care. You will also support the wider team as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective, timely and efficient service to the firm’s clients
  • Communicate with clients of the department in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ensure excellent service standards and maintain high client satisfaction
  • Manage medical records, requesting, chasing, downloading and copying documentation
  • Manage case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date, utilising the department key and correspondent pins
  • Liaise with clients, medical experts, counsel, and other third parties
  • Assist with progressing matters by following the clinical negligence map
  • Assist in preparing court bundles and trial documentation
  • Maintain case management systems to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Assist with boxing, storage, archiving, timesheets, court issuing, post, photocopying, faxing and general administration duties
  • Effective diary management for the team, organising meetings and managing expenses
  • Assist with processing bills
  • Audio typing and preparing documentation

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Previous experience as an administrator or paralegal, ideally in clinical negligence or personal injury
  • Strong understanding of legal or medical procedures and terminology
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident when dealing with third parties over the phone
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skill
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally legal case management software

Desirable

  • Experience reviewing medical records and understanding medical terminology
  • Familiarity with the Pre-Action Protocol for Clinical Negligence Claims
