Our commercial litigation team is one of the biggest in the North-West, operating nationally for high-value corporate and commercial disputes. This role will be fully office-based initially, with the option to discuss hybrid working after a settling in period. Candidates will support key Partners and provide assistance with a variety of legal and administrative tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious individual to develop legal knowledge and skills and learn from highly experienced lawyers in a collegiate environment. Progression opportunities are available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Assisting senior fee-earners in conducting litigation cases
- Attending client meetings, mediations and court hearings
- Engaging in telephone calls with potential new enquiries, discussing a wide range of litigation matters
- Drafting letters to clients, counsel and third parties
- Liaising with counsel's chambers and the court
- Assisting in file opening and onboarding new clients
- Creating indexes and preparing electronic and paper bundles for court hearings and mediations
- Assisting in the preparation of exhibits, witness statements and other enclosures to formal documents
- Assisting in the production and review of disclosure
- Attending training seminars to develop knowledge and understanding of procedural rules and case‑law developments
Qualifications
- Strong academics, including a law degree or GDL
- Excellent organisational skills and keen attention to detail
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with a focus on client care
- Adaptability and ability to work quickly in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong work ethic and can‑do attitude
- Experience in a paralegal role (especially commercial litigation) is advantageous but not essential
