LOCATION: TYNE DOCK, SOUTH SHIELDS, TYNE & WEAR NE33 5SP

SALARY: To be discussed at Interview Stage

Full-time 37.5 hours per week Office based role: at least 80% of the working week Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm including 1 hour lunch break.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely production of management accounts and financial reporting for JML. The role will play a key part in month-end close, departmental cost control, balance sheet integrity and statutory compliance. You will prepare flash reporting, monthly management accounts and variance analysis, support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, and assist with the annual audit and VAT submissions whilst supporting ad hoc financial analysis and business projects as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Flash Sales reports and monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and variance analysis.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and maintenance, covering prepayments, accruals and provisions.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing use of PowerBI and D365 F&O (ERP) for management reporting.
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Review and analyse departmental costs, identifying risks, variances and potential savings opportunities.
  • Support the annual audit process, including provision of audit schedules and explanations as required.
  • Maintain and review the company fixed asset register.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, controls and reporting.
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects requested by the business.

Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Experience in a finance, management accounting or financial reporting role.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience preparing or supporting monthly management accounts.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (preferably D365 F&O).
  • Ability to manage deadlines and workload, particularly during month-end.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Professional approach with high standards of integrity.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to turn financial data into clear, understandable information.

Desirable

  • Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
  • Experience implementing or working with business intelligence systems.
