Your New Role

As an HR Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a proactive and professional HR service across the business.

Working closely with the HR Manager as part of a small HR team, you will support all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from attracting and onboarding talent through to employee development, engagement and employee relations support.

This is a broad generalist role that offers genuine variety and the opportunity to build strong relationships with employees and managers across the organisation. You will be involved in recruitment, learning and development, policy development, HR projects, employee wellbeing initiatives and day-to-day HR operations.

The role requires someone who is organised, proactive and confident communicating with people at all levels. Whether supporting a manager with a people issue, coordinating recruitment activities or assisting with employee meetings, you will play an important role in helping create a positive employee experience.

You will also support the promotion of JMG as an employer of choice, representing the business at careers fairs, school and college engagement events, and helping to attract future talent into the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

HR Advisory & Employee Support

  • Act as a first point of contact for HR-related enquiries.
  • Providepractical HR guidance and support.
  • Build positive working relationships and support employee engagement,wellbeingand retention.
  • Promote the Company Core Values and culture.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Employer Branding

  • Coordinate the end-to-end recruitment process.
  • Manage applications, interviews, candidatecommunicationsand pre-employment checks.
  • Prepare offers,contractsandonboardingdocumentation.
  • Maintain recruitment records and Equal Opportunities Monitoring information.
  • Support employer branding initiatives andcareerscontent.
  • Represent the Company at careers fairs, schools,collegesand universities.
  • Develop relationships with educational establishments and external partners.
  • Support work experience,placementand graduateprograms.

Employee Relations & Attendance Management

  • Support investigations, disciplinary, grievance,capabilityandabsencemanagement processes.
  • Assist the HR Manager with investigations and meetings as note taker, HRrepresentativeor chair whereappropriate.
  • Conduct employee meetings including return-to-work interviews.
  • Prepare documentation and support managers on performance,attendanceand flexible working matters.

Learning & Development

  • Coordinate learning and development activities whilemaintainingtraining records.
  • Support managers inidentifyingdevelopment needs.
  • Assistwith appraisal, performancereviewand employee development processes.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop andmaintainHR policies,proceduresand processes.
  • Support statutory reporting and HR compliance activities.
  • Contribute to HR projects and employee wellbeing,diversityand inclusion initiatives.

HR Operations & Administration

  • Maintain employee records, HRsystemsand personnel files.
  • Prepare HR documentation including contracts,lettersand correspondence.
  • Process employee lifecycle changes and support payroll administration.
  • Produce HR reports and ensure GDPR compliance.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Minimum of 3years’ experiencein a generalist HR role.
  • Experience supporting recruitment,onboardingand employee relations activities.
  • ExperienceprovidingHR advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Good understanding of employment legislation and HR bestpractice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence in conducting employee meetings and handling sensitive conversations.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention todetailand ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability tomaintainconfidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proactive,self-motivatedand solutions-focused approach.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or working towards.
  • CIPD Associate Membership.
  • Experience within engineering,manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience drafting HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience using HR systems and databases.

You are confident communicating with employees and managers at all levels, providing practical advice and handling sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.

You thrive in a varied generalist role and are comfortable balancing day-to-day operational activities with continuous improvement initiatives. Whether coordinating recruitment, supporting employee development, assisting with employee relations matters or representing JMG at careers events, you take ownership of your work and actively look for opportunities to add value.
