Project Director - Major Projects (Birmingham)

We’re currently seeking a Project Director for our client to lead the delivery of a landmark construction project in excess of £100m . This is a senior leadership role within a well-established Tier 1 contractor, responsible for overseeing the project from tender stage through to completion.

Reporting to the Regional Director, you’ll play a key part in shaping delivery strategy, managing risk, and driving commercial and operational success across the full lifecycle of the project.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Construction

• Lead the tender process alongside estimating, commercial, and planning teams
• Develop procurement strategy and oversee key supply chain engagement
• Manage internal start-up meetings and produce method statements and programmes
• Identify and manage project risks through a comprehensive risk register

Construction Delivery

• Oversee mobilisation and delivery planning through a detailed Project Execution Plan (PEP)
• Ensure all contract documentation is in place and compliant
• Drive delivery performance across quality, health & safety, and programme
• Manage stakeholder and client relationships throughout the build

Post-Construction

• Implement a proactive client aftercare strategy
• Ensure timely resolution of defects and obtain the Certificate of Making Good Defects
• Capture client feedback and build positive long-term relationships for future work

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience in leading large, complex construction projects (£100m+)
• Strong commercial acumen and contract management skills (e.g. CVRs, PEP)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and client management abilities
• Chartered status or professional membership (e.g. MCIOB, CEng MICE) preferred
• Sound understanding of health, safety, environmental, and fire regulations
• Familiarity with BIM and modern construction methodologies

Desirable:

• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent HSE training
• Background in complex, multi-disciplinary technical projects
• Strong network and profile within the UK construction sector
