An exciting opportunity for an experienced Practice Trained Accountant to join a successful and established independent firm of Chartered Accountants based on the Sussex coast. They are seeking someone who can develop and grow the business, manage and advance their career to a senior position.
Responsibilities of the Accountant role:
- Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors, acting as their main point of contact
- Prepare and review annual statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS 102
- Review corporation tax returns, personal tax returns, VAT returns, payroll and management accounts
- Ensure all filing deadlines and client deliverables are met efficiently
- Support clients with day-to-day queries, including tax planning, software use (FreeAgent, Xero, QuickBooks, etc.), and compliance issues
- Supervise, mentor, and review work completed by junior staff and trainees
- Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients where required
- Identify opportunities for additional services and support business development
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting and tax legislation
- Contribute to process improvement and implementation of new software.
Requirements of the Accountant role:
- Fully Qualified ACA or ACCA
- First-rate systems skills, QuickBooks, Xero, FreeAgent, MS Excel
- Highly organised with first-rate communication
