The Role
Are you thinking about joining a well‑established family practice in the heart of Glasgow and work alongside some well‑known experts in the Scottish market? There is an opportunity for a talented Family Solicitor (2+ PQE) to join a well‑established and respected Glasgow practice known for its high‑quality, relationship‑driven Family Law work. The team is highly experienced in litigation but also committed to mediation, arbitration and collaborative practice, giving you a balanced and future‑oriented platform to develop into a well‑rounded specialist. You will manage your own varied caseload, spanning separation, divorce, child law, complex financial provision and modern family structures, while also working closely with senior lawyers on sensitive and high‑value matters. This role is geared toward long‑term progression. You will have the autonomy to grow your expertise, contribute to shaping the team's client offering, and step meaningfully into supervisory, advocacy and relationship‑building responsibilities as your career advances.
The Work
- Managing a diverse caseload, including separation, divorce, cohabitation, child law, adoption, surrogacy and pre-/post‑nuptial agreements
- Advising clients strategically across all areas of family law, often in emotionally complex situations
- Representing clients in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session
- Drafting and negotiating agreements, financial provision documents and court pleadings
- Handling child‑related matters, including residence, contact, specific issue orders and relocations
- Supporting senior team members on high‑value or highly sensitive disputes
- Supervising and mentoring junior colleagues to support their development
- Engaging in ADR, including mediation, collaborative law and arbitration
- Building trusted, long‑term relationships with clients
- Contributing to business development through writing, presenting and networking
- Ensuring case progression, regulatory compliance and high standards of client service
Your Experience
- 2+ years' PQE with strong, relevant Family Law experience
- Confident in independently managing a busy and varied caseload
- Experience in Court of Session litigation is advantageous
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
- Emotionally intelligent communicator with the ability to support clients sensitively and commercially
- Strong organisational ability and capable of handling complex, fast‑moving matters
- A collaborative team player with a proactive, solution‑focused approach
- Eager to continue developing expertise and taking on increasing responsibility
