A Tier 1-ranked restructuring and insolvency team is recruiting in Southampton, and the opportunity matters for anyone looking to build deep expertise in a practice that handles complex, high-quality insolvency work. Over the next few years, someone joining now will go from supporting insolvency appointments and procedural applications to running complex restructurings, defending antecedent transaction claims and becoming a recognised insolvency specialist in the region.
The Role
- Advise insolvency office holders on appointments, asset realisations and procedural court applications
- Handle business and asset sales, debt restructuring (including restructuring plans, CVAs and stakeholder negotiations), and contingency planning for distressed businesses
- Pursue and defend insolvency-related claims, including antecedent transactions and injunctive relief
- Advise lenders on security reviews and enforcement, and directors on their legal duties in distress scenarios
- Work on Section 110 demergers, MVLs, corporate group simplification and advising creditors of insolvent businesses
- Gain exposure to both contentious and non-contentious work across corporate and personal insolvency
- Early responsibility, partner-led supervision and clear progression pathways

The caseload is varied and sophisticated: insolvency appointments, strategic planning post-appointment, solvent liquidations, group reorganisations, recovery strategy for creditors, and advice to directors on duties in distress.
