You will handle a varied caseload, supporting partners, associates and paralegals. Becoming a vital part of the team, ensuring the smooth running of the department and seeing that fee earners are fully supported with their client work and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Audio and copy typing, transcription and formatting of legal documents (Word, iManage, Outlook, PDF/Acrobat, DocuSign, Excel), including dictation via BigHand and document conversion/reformatting.
- Proofreading, amending and producing documents in house style.
- Client and third-party communication (telephone/email), including liaising with lenders, local authorities, HMRC and HMLR.
- Land Registry applications and services, including drafting AP1/TR1 forms, notices of transfer/charge, requisitions, searches, office copies and post-completion formalities.
- SDLT applications and AML compliance (Legl), including SmartSearches and ID checks.
- Opening and closing files, including client onboarding, financial reports, WIP write-offs and file closure documentation.
- Preparing sales packs, CPSE replies, basic reports on title, lease/deed summaries and scheduling deeds.
- Billing and accounts support, including invoices, BACS/TT payments, e-chits, ledger checks and credit control.
- General administrative support, including printing, scanning, photocopying and file/deed retrieval from storage.
- Diary management and meeting coordination (internal/external, Teams/Zoom) and ad hoc support to fee earners and other departments.
Requirements:
- You will be a legal secretary with a minimum of 6 months of experience.
- 5-days attendance in either the St Albans or London office.
- Excellent telephone manner and ability to provide a professional standard of communication with clients.
- You will possess a friendly and approachable manner.
- A proactive, enthusiastic and commercially focused approach.
